Makeda Thomas is a modern-day Renaissance woman—an ever-wandering artisan whose life unfolds between travel, film sets, and the quiet symbolic poetry of the in-between. Ethereal yet grounded, she is shaped by a life in motion and an ongoing dialogue between the visible world and the unseen one. She moves fluidly through the realms of costume and spatial design, exploring how color, shadow, and material storytelling shape environments and characters on screen as well as on the world stage.

She earned her BFA from the North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in Production Design within the School of Filmmaking while immersing herself in Costume Design studies in the School of Design & Production. This dual foundation shapes her signature approach: a seamless weaving of environment, garment, and narrative into visual myth.

Revered by crewmates as a “set oracle,” her creative practice is inseparable from her devotion to the esoteric arts. Since 2019, she has studied Hellenistic and Mundane astrology under the mentorship of astrologers such as Chris Brennan, Austin Coppock, Rick Levine, and the Astrology University faculty. She also maintains a long-standing study of Kabbalistic and Jungian tarot traditions, which she has explored since 2017.
